CTB is excited to announce that all newly issued CTB FlexCard debit cards will now be contactless debit cards. With a new CTB contactless debit card you have the option to simply hover your card over a contactless enabled terminal to make your payment securely using short range wireless technology giving you extra security against fraudsters.

Q. What is a contactless debit card?
A.A contactless debit card has a chip that uses near field communication (NFC) technology to enable close range payments.
Q. How do contactless payments work?
A.Hover your card over the contactless enabled terminal instead of inserting or swiping it. Contactless payments are securely completed using short range wireless technology between a contactless card and a card terminal that supports contactless payments.
Q. How do I know if my CTB debit card is a contactless card?
A.If you see the Contactless Symbol, , on your card then you can make contactless payments. When you see the Contactless Symbol at a merchant terminal, it means they accept contactless payments.
Q. Where can I use my contactless debit card?
A.You can use your contactless debit card wherever you see the Contactless Symbol .
Q. Do I have to actually tap my card on the card terminal?
A.No. You don't have to physically tap your card, but your card should be close (within 1-2 inches) to the card terminal.
Q. How long do I need to hold my card over the card terminal?
A.You should hold your contactless card over the card terminal for 1-2 seconds.
Q. Can I use my contactless debit card even if I don't see the Contactless Symbol on the card terminal?
A.Yes. If you don't see the Contactless Symbol, you can still insert your contactless card at an EMV chip card terminal, or swipe your card at a mag stripe terminal.
Q. Can fraudsters skim information from a contactless debit card?
A.A one-time code, specific to each transaction, secures your payment information. The code cannot be reused by fraudsters. Even if they were able to access it, the information would be useless to them.
Q. What are the benefits of contactless payments?
A.Contactless payments are fast, easy, and convenient to use in places where you're paying on the go. Each contactless card transaction is accompanied by a one-time code that protects your payment information – just like transactions made with a chip card, which means contactless payments are secure.

A.Yes. Contactless payments use the same NFC (Near Field Communication) technology as mobile wallets, like Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
Q. If I currently have a Community Trust Bank debit card, will I get a contactless debit card?
A.Yes. When your current card expires and is reissued it will be a contactless debit card.
